Voices Within III
Echoes of Pain and Resilience
Description:
“‘11217’ (Voices Within III)” by Bahi, written on 15.03.21, is a poignant exploration of trauma, injustice, and the enduring struggle for healing. Through evocative imagery and raw emotion, Bahi captures the harrowing experiences of dealing with past horrors and the resilience required to move forward. The poem reflects on the failures of justice and the impact of patriarchal systems, while also expressing hope for a future where such pain is not repeated.
If I were to open up about
Those memories,
How far can I spill before
The boundaries?
Wording it out is harder than
Turning inside out ‘cause,
These stories– yes..
My stories…
Most unheard of, yet of the most heard of.
Drip, drop, drip, drop,
Shook in fright, one rainy night.
How can a poem ever illustrate,
That night, that day, that nightmarish fate?!
“Wasn’t the first time” I tell them myself,
The police did fxxk all to help!
“It’s Justice to blame”,
She’s a joke now, a shame, ‘cause
Patriarchy be stringing the game, but
Who’s gunna fix this, and
Pluck out the strain? Trust me
I shed them rivers, yet
He gained his freedom, but
I grieved my bereavement..
“No” meant “no”, it remains the same,
You know? I still remember his name…
Drip, drop, drip, drop,
Shook in fright, one rainy night,
“Oh well… It’s the past… At least I’m sane? “
“More girls… I pray for… That he won’t ever stain…
